(29 November 2023-Todate) Title of the Project: “Interactive digital twin solutions for cardiovascular disease Management, PReventiOn and treatment leVeraging the internet of things and Edge intelligence paradigms - IMPROVE”. Project Code: P2022NH2CK. Funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) within the PRIN PNRR 2022 program. NM is the coordinator of the Unit.

(28 September 2023-Todate) Title of the Project: “EXEGETE: Explainable Generative Deep Learning Methods for Medical Image and Signal Processing”. Project Code: 2022ENK9LS. Funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) within the PRIN 2022 program. NM is the coordinator of the Unit.

(January 2023-Todate) Title of the Project: Tech4You – Spoke 6 – Goal 6.2"Marketplace of enabling digital solutions stimulating novel paradigms in the thematic spokes". Funded by PNRR – MUR, code: CUP H23C22000370006.
NM is a member of the project team of the Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria (Italy) and the reference person for the activities of the electrical engineering group.
The objective of the project is to define a set of technological solutions to support digital transformation to develop innovative services and products and enable new business models and market opportunities. NM is involved in the development of Artificial Intelligence models to enable the development of applications that support advanced automatic reasoning models and data inference.

(September 2022 - Todate) Title of the Project: “Sustainable Mobility Center (Centro Nazionale per la Mobilità Sostenibile – CNMS) - Spoke 6”. Funded by PNRR – MUR, code: CUP C33C22000240001.
One of the goals of the project is making the mobility system safer: promoting digital products and processes to favor intelligent management, monitoring and predictive maintenance, reducing fatal accidents by reducing operating costs and increasing the level of safety of the entire mobility system. NM is a member of the project team of the Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria (Italy) and is involved in the development of Artificial Intelligence models for safe driving.

(September 2021 – February 2023) Title of the Project: “iCare”, funded by POR CALABRIA FESR-FSE 2014/2020 AZIONI 1.5.1 E 10.5.12.
The goal of the project is introducing a telemedicine platform based on new methodologies for the provision of health services in the Calabrian territory, in order to guarantee essential levels of health care. NM was a member of the project team of the Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria (Italy) and conducted a research activity aimed at creating new pipelines for the automatic processing of bio-signals through novel architectures of artificial neural networks. NM was the supervisor of a research fellow enrolled in the iCare project.

(July 2020 - October 2021) Title of the Project: “COGITO - Dynamic and cognitive system to allow buildings to learn and adapt”, funded by: MIUR, code ARS01_00836.
NM was a member of the project team of the Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria (Italy) and conducted research activities within a WP focused on the "Intelligent management of the building-plant system for energy efficiency and indoor quality", through the design and implementation of AI models for the calculation of the optimal inclination of the slats of the cognitive venetian blinds and within a WP focused on "Efficient management of the use of the internal and external environments of the building", through the design and implementation of AI models for the automatic evaluation of the sleep quality of the subjects occupants of the building.
(2014-2018) Principal Investigator and Project Coordinator at the IRCCS Neurolesi Center Bonino-Pulejo, Messina (Italy) of the project entitled “System for the Automatic Artifact Detection and Removal from Electroencephalographic Signals” (Code: GR-2011-02351397). NM’s grant was funded by the Italian Ministry of Health, within the program “Young Researchers 2011-2012”. The project produced a relevant outcome in terms of developed deep learning-based methods for EEG signal processing for the investigation of Alzheimer disease, as evidenced by the reported scientific publications on relevant journals and conferences as well as by an international patent.

(2016-Todate) Participation in a joint research activity between NeuroLab and AI_LAB laboratories (University of Reggio Calabria, Italy) and ST Microelectronics (https://www.st.com/content/st_com/en.html) aiming at developing a Brain Computer Interface system based on the detection and decoding of eye movements for the control of external devices. This activity has been carried out also with the involvement of 13 students with NM as co-supervisor.
(2015-Todate) Participation in a joint research activity between NeuroLab and AI_LAB laboratories (University of Reggio Calabria, Italy) and Prof. A.
