SANTANGELO Saveria

Saveria Santangelo is Associate Professor of Experimental Physics (Reggio Calabria University, 2005), with National scientific qualification as Full Professor (2018).
She is member the Italian Soc. of Physics (1985), of the Italian Chemical Soc./ENERCHEM Inter-divisional Group (2008), of the National Inter-University Consortium for Materials Science & Technology (INSTM, 2017), of the Italian National Group for Electrochemical Energy Storage Systems (GISEL, 2020) and Scientific Director of the research unit of Reggio Calabria of the GISEL-INSTM Italian National Reference Centre (2020).
After having graduated in Physics (summa cum laude, Messina University, 1984), she worked for 3 years in the field of Li-ion batteries in cooperation with Italian National Labs of Frascati. In 1988, she got a position of Researcher (Reggio Calabria University). There, her research work was initially centred on Monte Carlo simulation of electron scattering in solids for applications in e-beam lithography, and her efforts were devoted to set-up a Raman Spectroscopy Lab. Subsequently, she developed an experimental research line focused on design, synthesis and analysis of carbon-based materials for electronic applications.
Currently, she is Scientific Director of the MatEES Lab research line focused on the on design, synthesis and analysis of nanostructured materials for applications in energy storage and conversion, water treatment, catalysis and sensing.
She has authored 190 publications in peer-reviewed international scientific journals, has co-edited 2 books (GNSR2001, IOS Press; and Carbon, Springer) and has been ranked among the “Top 2% Scientists of the world” since 2021 (https://topresearcherslist.com/Home/Profile/968557).
