ARANITI Giuseppe

Giuseppe Araniti is a Full Professor of Telecommunications at the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria, Italy. At the same university, he served as Assistant Professor from 2005 to 2021 and Associate Professor from 2021 to 2025. He is currently the Head of the iCare Laboratory and a member of the ARTS – Advanced Research on Telecommunication Systems – Laboratory at the Department of Information Engineering, Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy (DIIES). During his career he has held several institutional roles, including local coordinator responsible for admission tests, Rector’s Delegate for relations with industry, Coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Computer, Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering, Deputy Director of the DIIES Department, and member of the Academic Senate. He was a visiting student at the COMNETS Department of RWTH Aachen University (Germany), where he carried out his master’s thesis on low-earth-orbit satellite communication systems. He received his M.Sc. degree (2000) and Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering (2004) from the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria. Since 2003 he has been involved in teaching activities at the University Mediterranea, including courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, and he also teaches in Ph.D. programs and at several international universities. His research interests include 6G networks, multicast and broadcast communication services, advanced terrestrial and satellite wireless systems, Device-to-Device (D2D) and Machine-Type Communications (MTC), and applications in the Internet of Things and eHealth. The results of his research are documented in more than 250 scientific publications. In 2022 he received the Scott Helt Memorial Award from the IEEE Broadcast Technology Society for the best paper published in IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting. He is also an IEEE BTS Distinguished Lecturer, Associate Editor of several IEEE international journals, and a Senior Member of IEEE.
