MISTRETTA Marina

Marina Mistretta is a Full Professor at the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria since 31 April 2022, GSD 09/IIND-07, ssd IIND-07/B. She graduated in Civil Engineering at the University of Palermo on 16 July 1997 and obtained the title of PhD in Environmental Technical Physics, XIII cycle, on 18 January 2002, at the University of Palermo. Since 1998, her scientific activity has focused on energy and environmental sustainability, as demonstrated by a significant record of scientific publications and active participation in, and coordination of, national and international research projects and working groups. Her research primarily addresses life-cycle–based methodologies, energy efficiency in buildings, renewable energy technologies, energy generation and storage systems, and decarbonisation strategies for energy systems and industrial processes.
Her research contributions span several interconnected fields, including building thermophysics, energy and environmental sustainability at both building and urban scales, the development of multi-criteria decision-support models for energy planning, modelling and performance analysis of renewable energy technologies, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) applied to energy technologies and the built environment. Additional research activities include the energy and environmental assessment of agri-food production systems, the analysis of energy balances in NetZEB (Net Zero Energy Buildings) and Positive Energy Buildings and Districts, and the eco-design of energy storage systems.
She currently acts as the Rector’s Delegate to the Italian University Network for Sustainable Development (RUS) and is a member of its Coordination Committee. She also serves as Vice-Coordinator of the PhD Programme in Information Engineering at the Department of Information Engineering, Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy of the Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria.
