GIGLIO Francesca

Graduated with honours in Architecture in 1998 from the “Mediterranea” University of Reggio Calabria, she is Associate Professor of Technological and Environmental Design in Architecture (CEAR 08/C) at the Department of Architecture and Design of the same university since 2022. Qualified since 2025 as full professor in sector 08/C1. She is a member of the University's Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Scientific Society of Architectural Technology (SiTdA). She is on the Editorial Board of the journal Techne – Journal of Technology for Architecture and Environment (ANVUR Class A) and other national and international scientific committees.
Since 2025, she is scientific director of the interdepartmental laboratory MATeRICs – Material Analysis and Technologies for Restoration, Innovation, and Climate explorations, dedicated to material characterisation and technologies for sustainability and climate resilience.
She holds a PhD in Architectural Technology (XV cycle, 2002) and a Level II Master's Degree in Environmental Management with a specialisation in sustainable construction (2004). She was a permanent researcher in the same field from 2008 to 2022 (confirmed in 2012).
Since 2004, she holds teaching positions in sector 08/C, where she integrates her scientific activity with laboratory and experimental experience and collaborations with companies and associations within the Third Mission.
She conducts research on circular and reversible design strategies, innovation in low environmental impact materials, and climate resilience of the built environment according to the principles of design for climate change.
She is responsible for scientific studies and research, disseminated through publications, conferences and outreach activities. She is the author of over 100 publications, including 3 monographs, 30 articles in ANVUR Class A journals, 25 contributions to volumes and 27 in national and international conference proceedings.
