DELLA SPINA Lucia

Associate Professor of Appraisal and Economic Evaluation (CEAR-03/C) at the Department of Architecture and Design, Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria, Italy. She obtained her PhD in Evaluation Methods for Urban and Architectural Planning in 2004.
Her scientific activity focuses on the development of multidimensional quantitative assessment models and decision-support tools for public and private stakeholders involved in urban and territorial transformation processes. Her main research areas include sustainability assessment of plans, programmes and projects, economic and financial feasibility analysis, multicriteria and strategic evaluation, as well as environmental and energy-economic assessment for the ecological transition, with a specific focus on landscape and cultural heritage.
She is the Scientific Director of the LandEM Lab “Edoardo Mollica” (since 2024) and LaborEst – Research Laboratory on Economic and Real Estate Evaluation (since 2011). She coordinates and participates in national and international research projects. She is Chair of the International Conference “Landscapes Across the Mediterranean” (CrossMED), and Chair of the International Conference “New Metropolitan Perspectives” (2014–2022).
She serves as Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journals Environmental Science and Sustainable Development and LaborEst, Editor of the Springer book series Advances in Science, Technology & Innovation and Sustainable Economy and Eco-Technology, and member of the Editorial Boards of several international peer-reviewed journals.
Since 2020, she has been included in Stanford University’s “World’s Top 2% Scientists” ranking. She received the Buildings Best Paper Award in 2017. She has been Visiting Professor at international universities in Spain, the United Kingdom, Portugal and the United States. She is a member of the IEREK International Scientific Committee and of SIEV (Italian Society of Appraisal and Real Estate Evaluation)
