CAMPANELLA Raffaella

Raffaella Campanella (Palmi, 24 December 1961), Associate Professor in Urban Planning at the Department of Architecture and Territory - dArTe of the Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria, holds a degree in Architecture (University of Reggio Calabria) and a PhD in Territorial and Urban Planning (University of Rome La Sapienza).

He carries out research and teaching activities in the field of territorial and urban planning and design and, at the same time, a series of parallel activities related to these, such as applied research and the organisation of and/or participation in seminars, conferences, exhibitions and workshops.

The main areas of research activity that inform the scientific profile are related to territorial, urban and landscape planning and design. The activity carried out is, in fact, oriented towards the two major themes of the City Project and the Environment/Territory/Landscape Project, with particular attention to the investigation of the meanings and perspectives of the peculiar conditions that characterise the cities and territories of the Mediterranean of Europe and Southern Italy.

She is the author of the monographic texts Protected areas and planning processes in Southern Italy - Basilicata, Calabria, Sicily (2000); Barcelona city-laboratory - A praxis for the project of the contemporary city (2002); and coauthor of the volumes SudEuropa. I territori del Mezzogiorno nelle politiche comunitarie (2009)and Carta per l'edilizia sociale sostenibile in Calabria. Context|Typology|Materials|Energy|Housing (2020). He has also edited the volume: Ambiente Urbano delle Città del Mezzogiorno (1995) and published more than seventy essays and articles in collective volumes and journals.

Twice (2011 and 2018) he is the winner of the "PAN (Paesaggio Architettura Natura) - Ardito Desio Award" conferred by IPSAPA - Associazione Interregionale Partecipazione e Studi in Agribusiness Paesaggio e Ambiente.
