3. SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY
3.1 RESEARCH ACTIVITY
The experimental and theoretical research activity deals with the following topics:
- Soil reinforcement with geosynthetics;
- Protection filters with granular and synthetic material;
- Environmental geotechnics (Controlled landfills and Remediation of contaminated sites especially);
- Landslides and slope stability;
- Soil improvement;
- In situ tests;
- Use of new materials in geotechnical and environmental engineering;
- Foundations.
The research allowed drafting 204 papers including the Ph.D. thesis on Geotechnical Engineering and Master thesis on Geotechnical Engineering.

3.2 INTERNATIONAL AWARDS
In September 2018 he was awarded as Best Paper 2017 of the Journal “Geotextiles and Geomembranes”. In particular, he had the honorable mention for the following paper:

3.7 RESULTS OBTAINED ON TRANSFER OF TECHNOLOGY
The research activities carried out during the industrial research project PON01_1869 TEMADI-TUTELA “New Technologies and Materials for Land and Environmental Protection” allowed TENAX, partner of the research project, to require a patent of new geocomposite (constituted by a geogrid mono-oriented in transverse direction and a geotextile) to be used for the con-struction of reinforced/permeable gravel columns.

3.7 RESULTS OBTAINED ON TRANSFER OF TECHNOLOGY
The research activities carried out during the industrial research project PON01_1869 TEMADI-TUTELA “New Technologies and Materials for Land and Environmental Protection” allowed TENAX, partner of the research project, to require a patent of new geocomposite (constituted by a geogrid mono-oriented in transverse direction and a geotextile) to be used for the con-struction of reinforced/permeable gravel columns.
