Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine is a flagrant violation of the fundamental tenets of contemporary international law enshrined in the United Nations Charter. The present article carefully scrutinizes the Security Council and General Assembly responses to the invasion and subsequent actions by the Russian authorities. It considers both the draft resolutions that failed to be adopted by the Security Council and the resolutions that were approved by the General Assembly up to the time of writing. The article argues that the General Assembly resolutions chart a path to ending the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, while the Security Council’s paralysis underscores the urgency of reforming the United Nations.
