MANCINI Marina

Marina Mancini is Associate Professor of International Law at the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria (since 2015). She is also Adjunct Professor of International Criminal Law at LUISS University, in Rome (since 2007).
Professor Mancini has been a Member of the Human Rights Review Panel of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo – EULEX KOSOVO since April 2023 and currently serves as Acting Presiding Member.
She has published extensively in human rights law, international humanitarian law and international criminal law. Her scholarly works include two books: “Stato di guerra e conflitto armato nel diritto internazionale” [State of War and Armed Conflict in International Law] (Giappichelli, 2009) and “Statualità e non riconoscimento nel diritto internazionale” [Statehood and Non-Recognition in International Law] (Giappichelli, 2020). She is also a member of the Board of Editors of the Italian Yearbook of International Law.
She has substantial experience in funded national and international research projects. She is currently the principal investigator of the research project “Advancing Accountability for International Crimes through Universal Jurisdiction: Challenges for the European Union and its Member States and Proposals for Action (UNIJUR)” (2023-2026), funded by the EU under the NextGenerationEU Programme.
Professor Mancini earned her degree in Law, graduating summa cum laude, from LUISS University in 1998, and obtained her PhD in International Law from Sapienza University of Rome in 2003. She was Postdoctoral Fellow in International Law at LUISS University (2003-2005) and Senior Lecturer in International Law at the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria (2005-2015). She obtained the National Scientific Qualification for full professorship in International Law in Italy in 2020.
Professor Mancini was admitted to the Rome Bar Association in 2002 and regularly provides advice on international law issues.
