Syllabus

Obiettivi Formativi

The course analyses the interaction between Industrial Organization and Environmental Economics, focusing on firms' strategic behavior under environmental regulation. It examines the design of environmental policy instruments and their effects on firms' incentives to undertake pollution abatement and green innovation. The course then considers the strategic management of common-pool resources through static and dynamic game-theoretic models, complemented by evidence from experimental economics. Finally, it investigates how market structure, including sequential competition, market entry and vertical relationships, affects the performance of environmental policies, and how environmental objectives influence firms' governance and competitive strategies.

Prerequisiti

The course presumes that students are familiar with microeconomic theory and basic game theory.

Metodi didattici

Lectures and presentations performed by students to develop critical thinking and improve communication skills

Verifica Apprendimento

Students are expected to demonstrate their knowledge and skills by presenting a scientific article and taking a 60-minute test. The grade will be based on: presentation of a published articles (50%); pass a test (50%).
