Storie di abbandono: il male e la cura. Alcune riflessioni

The processes of depopulation that affected Italy throughout the twentieth century manifested themselves indisputably more accentuated in areas with a marked rural economy, especially if poor, almost always in association with the altimetry. These processes concern mainly the smaller centers of the Italian Apennine ridge and many settlements in the mountain areas of Southern Italy: places tested by the lack of infrastructure and services and by earthquakes and often known above all for their state of abandonment and for the resistance of the few inhabitants who try to animate them. The paper proposes a reflection on the idea that the isolation of these places, paradoxically, today can represent a perspective of healing and rebirth.
