A new reading, justified on a palaeographic basis, of the waxed tablet inscribed makes it possible to recognize a document of the Roman juridical practice from London of a previously unknown case: a ‘self-certification’ by a letter from the guarantor of a bail for damage. The sender of the letter, which is the guarantor, pays the promised bail, to compensate the damage, to Atigniomaro, who had gone to London to receive the payment in the name and on behalf of the recipient of the letter.
