Abstract:
Intensive hydraulic works made to reduce hydraulic and hydrogeological risk may result in an alteration of coastal dynamics. The adoption of an approach to watershed level and the monitoring of the effects of existing works on the hydrographic network can help minimize the environmental impact of these works, thus improving the design and conversion criteria. The GIS “ARCH.I.M.E.D.E”, implemented as part of a case study relating to the metropolitan area of Reggio Calabria, has allowed us to manage multiple information about hydraulic works, which showed the need to combine the management efficacy and the need to transfer sediments towards the coast.
