Abstract:
The synthesis of shaped beams by means of arrays is a canonical problem at the core of electromagnetic engineering. In fact, one can only exploit appropriately interfering primary sources and/or ad hoc scatterers to tailor the electromagnetic field behavior according to the specifications at hand. In this article, after briefly recalling two cornerstone contributions, we report on their recent improvements and follow-ups, witnessing their still-present and relevant legacy.
