Ideal mobility for an inclusive, sustainable and intelligent city

Conference Paper
Publication Date:
2012
abstract:
The subject of the proposed paper falls within the topic of “Urban accessibility and innovative means of transportation” and illustrates considerations and outcomes of the CityMob research which, starting form the interest of the AACM Department in projects and processes of governance intended to enhance urban quality, is working to set out the criteria and guidelines of the sustainable city, considered as comfortable, healthy, ethically beautiful.
The paper is centered on the idea that sustainability requests a systematic approach as well as infrastructural, logistic and ecological networks of the city require a common, shared and concerted future in order to enhance gradually the quality of both the consolidated city and the wider urban system.
A further aspect is related to the reference models for the effectiveness of public mobility. These are, on one side, the cities following the principles of a coherent and constant growth logic – useful long-term points of reference -, and on the other, the cities which have successfully remedied for inefficiencies with creative impulses in a providential discontinuity lived as the prelude to new goals of urban quality.
Finally it contains some considerations on the methods and criteria inspired by the innovative integration of different modalities and by the optimization of the existing logistic and structural conditions, for the creation of a public mobility designed to valorize the cultural, historical and naturalistic heritage and therefore to grant full accessibility to the main urban magnets.
