Abstract:
Today, tourism plays a key role in our country’s economy. With the advent of smart cities, there is a growing trend to introduce urban planning strategies aimed to optimize and innovate public services in order to relate the material infrastructure of cities “with the human, intellectual and social capital of those who live there”. The introduction of intelligent systems that communicate with each other and interact with the outside world has therefore facilitated the dissemination of apps that allow to make the cultural heritage of interest accessible. In a wider project to spread and enhance the cultural heritage of the city of Reggio Calabria, the geomatics laboratory of the Mediterranean university is developing a tourist app for educational purposes that allows us you to interact directly with the surrounding environment, learn about 3D models reconstructed with photogrammetric techniques [3]. The app is developed on Unity environment. This work illustrates the various patterns of operation of the app, as well as the process of assembling the different scenes and the various techniques used to reconstruct the three-dimensional models inserted into them.
