Overview

Date/time interval

Secondo Ciclo Semestrale (16/02/2026 - 08/05/2026)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

The student will be introduced to the use of the scientific-technical software MatLab with which he/she will be able to implement simple mathematical models.

- Expected learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding: acquisition of specific technical and operational skills, knowledge of the main commands and constructs of the MatLab language;

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: acquisition of specific application skills;

Autonomy of judgment: evaluation, interpretation and discussion of results;

Communication skills: verbal and written communication, development and presentation of a computer program in MatLab, ability to work in a group;

Learning skills: at the end of the course the student will be able to use the basic constructs of MatLab useful for implementing simple mathematical models.

Course Prerequisites

The student will have to master the concepts of mathematical analysis, physics and vector algebra.

Teaching Methods

Interactive lessons in computer lab, individual and group practical activities.

Assessment Methods

The exam consists of a 120-minute practical test aimed at verifying the basic knowledge of the MatLab software in its application to simple mathematical models.

The outcome of the exam will be the score reported.

The test is intended to verify the student's ability to apply the knowledge acquired during the course, to verify the level of knowledge and understanding of the course contents.

The final grade will be awarded according to the following evaluation criteria:

30 cum laude: complete, in-depth and critical knowledge of the topics, complete and original interpretative ability, full ability to independently apply the knowledge to solve the proposed problems;

28 - 30: complete and in-depth knowledge of the topics, complete and effective interpretative ability, able to independently apply the knowledge to solve the proposed problems;

24 - 27: knowledge of the topics with a good degree of mastery, correct and confident interpretative ability, good ability to correctly apply most of the knowledge to solve the proposed problems;

20 - 23: adequate knowledge of the topics but limited mastery of them, correct interpretative ability, more than sufficient ability to independently apply the knowledge to solve the proposed problems;

18 - 19: basic knowledge of the main topics, sufficient interpretative ability, sufficient ability to apply the basic knowledge acquired;

Insufficient: does not possess an acceptable knowledge of the topics covered during the course.
