The objective of the course is to provide students with the knowledge and methodological tools necessary to interpret the phenomena underlying chemical transformations, with particular emphasis on aqueous solutions and the chemical equilibria that occur within them. These tools, supported by numerical exercises and laboratory activities, will enable students to understand the relationship between structure and properties, and to acquire fundamental knowledge of the structure of matter in its different states of aggregation. Special attention will be given to the study of the electronic configuration of atoms and molecules and to chemical dynamics (including chemical reactions, with a focus on stoichiometric, thermodynamic, and kinetic aspects).

Students are expected to be able to correlate structure with chemical reactivity and to perform stoichiometric calculations that form the basis of chemical measurements.

The theoretical and practical knowledge acquired will serve as a foundation for understanding and addressing engineering problems in the fields of electronics and biomedical sciences, where chemistry plays a crucial role in the development of innovative materials, devices and technologies.
