Skills required to a young engineer graduate who aims to work in industrial production, as well as in the sector of goods and services, are more and more widening to ambits till now traditionally reserved to specialized fields. That is to say reliability and safety of components, plants and systems, who, all together, concur to so called quality assurance production, which is unavoidable precondition to be successful in worldwide market.
The course aims to give students knowledges to measure and certificate reliability, safety and quality of industrial processes and services, by using instruments and techniques different from those typical of the traditional metrology.

Quality assurance of goods and services. Laws and regulations. Italian quality assurance system. Quality instruments: on line and off line instruments. Quality indicators, deterioration models, non- quality costs. Analysis of measurements results: control charts, statistical decision making, ANOM, ANOVA, test meaningfulness. Designing experiments and parametric optimization: system design, parameter design, tolerance design, robust design. Reliability and safety of components and systems: failure mode effect and criticality analysis (FMECA). Nondestructive testing: laws, regulations, methods, instrumentation.
