Overview

Date/time interval

Secondo Ciclo Semestrale (23/02/2026 - 29/05/2026)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and methodological tools necessary to acquire the fundamental concepts and applications of chemistry as a strategic tool for the ecological transition and the green revolution. Particular attention will be paid to understanding the main energy sources currently in use and the chemical processes required throughout the life cycle of the technologies discussed. Students will be able to identify and classify various energy sources, associating them with their respective environmental impacts. Additionally, fundamental knowledge will be provided on the management of resources and waste resulting from technologies for energy production and storage, in accordance with the principles of Green Chemistry and Circular Economy. By the end of the course, students will have acquired the skills to understand the environmental implications that a specific technology may have and will be able to formulate plausible energy mix scenarios.

Course Prerequisites

General and Inorganic Chemistry of the basic courses

Teaching Methods

Lectures. The course is delivered in a traditional format (in-person).

Assessment Methods

The exam consists of a final oral exam.

The oral exam involves a discussion on the topics covered in the course topics, and it assesses the student’s ability to communicate and present the acquired knowledge using appropriate scientific language, as well as their understanding and ability to analyze relevant environmental problems by applying the concepts and procedures covered in the course.
