Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims to provide students with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of European Union Law. 

Knowledge and understanding: Through attendance and personal study, students will acquire specific knowledge of the core principles of European Union Law, EU competencies and functioning, and the relationship between EU Law and national law. This knowledge will be assessed through an oral exam.

Applying knowledge and understanding: By developing the appropriate skills and methods, students will be able to interpret and apply the fundamental principles of EU Law to practical cases.

Making judgements: Students will learn to analyse practical cases independently and to make critical assessments regarding the application of relevant EU law norms.

Communication skills: Students will be able to articulate and defend their viewpoints on practical cases, correctly employing legal terminology.

Learning skills: The knowledge gained in the course will enable students to analyse practical cases independently, identifying and studying relevant legal norms, case law, and scholarly opinions.


Course Prerequisites

Successfully passing the Constitutional Law I examination.

Assessment Methods

During the oral exam, the student must demonstrate that he/she has acquired specific knowledge of the core principles of European Union law, EU competencies and functioning, and the relationship between EU law and national law. The student is expected to be able to use the appropriate technical and legal vocabulary

and to show that he/she has developed the learning and study skills

necessary for further independent study of EU law. The following criteria will be applied to assign the final grade, expressed in thirtieths: knowledge of the core principles of European Union law, EU competencies and functioning, and the relationship between EU law and national law, along with the ability to apply the notions acquired to practical cases (65%); appropriate use of the technical and legal vocabulary and acquisition of the learning and study skills necessary for further autonomous study of EU law (35%).
