Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims to give students a basic understanding of ITSs (Intelligent Transportation Systems).

The educational path is aimed at offering useful knowledge to address the management issues related to the design, evaluation, execution and operation of components of Smart Cities related to urban mobility through road infrastructures, using methods, techniques and tools typical of transport engineering:

(Knowledge and understanding) know the basic principles for the design of road transport systems;

(Ability to apply knowledge) can analyse and design small road transport systems; these systems are based on traffic light regulation and topology;

(Autonomy of judgment) answer open-ended questions on their own; this helps them to learn to make their own decisions;

(Communication skills) explain the reasons why transport systems are designed the way they are.

(Learning skills) can independently learn other basic characteristics of the variables and models to be used for the functional design of small road transport systems.

Teaching Methods

The course is made up of lectures and exercises in Italian. The course programme is followed in lessons, with the educational objectives in mind. The stuff we talk about in class will be made easier to understand with exercises that will help you learn more and remember what we talked about.

Assessment Methods

Assessment of learning outcomes is done through an oral exam. To pass the exam, you need to score at least 18/30. This means you have to show that you know the subject well enough to pass. If you get between 19/30 and 20/30, you have sufficient skills and knowledge. You'll get a mark between 21/30 and 24/30 if you show moderate skills and knowledge. If you get between 25/30 and 30/30, you've shown that you've got good skills and knowledge. You can get an "Lode" if you show that you have excellent skills and knowledge.
