Syllabus

Course Objectives

At the end of the laboratory, students should have acquired the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

Knowledge and Understanding:

  • Acquire specialized and in-depth training in qualitative methodology and sociometry applied to educational contexts, as well as the stages of designing and conducting research-interventions in the socio-educational field.

Knowledge and Applied Understanding:

  • Gain a thorough understanding of the techniques for observing and assessing the relational competencies of children in the interactive contexts in which they are involved.
  • Develop the ability to independently design and implement research-interventions, write reports, and interpret the implications of the results obtained.
  • Understand the usefulness of behavioral evaluation methodologies for improving professional practice in broader social contexts.
  • Be able to use observation and sociometric techniques at all stages of their application.

Judgment Autonomy:

  • Be able to select the most appropriate methodology based on the goal and context in which one operates.

Communication Skills:

  • Acquire a solid command of psycho-educational terminology, especially in discussing potential research projects.

Learning Ability:

  • Develop the capacity to understand and critically assess an educational context, and subsequently be able to select the most suitable methodology for its evaluation.



Course Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of developmental and educational psychology.


Teaching Methods

Guided practical exercises and focus groups.


Assessment Methods

The assessment of the acquired competencies will be conducted through an oral exam, which will take place at the end of the workshop, during which the practical project activities carried out by the participants will be discussed in depth.

Contents

The workshop aims to provide students with the necessary skills to assess socio-relational dynamics through observation, sociometry, questionnaires, and interviews. The different areas of application of the proposed methodologies will be described, and guidance will be provided on how to design and implement an intervention based on them, with particular focus on the main stages and operational procedures.
