Project The objective of this project idea aims to enhance the beneficial potential of the bioactive constituents of typical agri-food products of the Calabria Region through the use in the open field of bioformulations based on beneficial microorganisms belonging to the genus Trichoderma, the territorially homogeneous areas relating to the production of plants will be defined, and then the variability of the bioactive components in the various autochthonous productions of the Carolea cultivar and the nutritional value of the fresh product and the reduction of the environmental impact of the production process.
The expected results of the project will allow the proposing company to achieve strategic objectives that will strengthen its competitive level. An increase in margins could be converted into an increase in the competitiveness of the product. In addition, the current percentage of production waste would be reused for the extraction of biomolecules to be reinvested in the market as active ingredients (food supplements, functional foods, etc.).
The FILO project will move along 4 WPs aimed at enhancing the health properties of the typical productions of the Calabrian territory starting from an action in the field and, at the same time, developing a new process/product for the production of a functional extract to be used in the nutraceutical sector using by-products and processing waste with a consequent reduction of the environmental impact.
WP1: Use of bioformulations based on beneficial microorganisms useful for the defense of native Calabrian olive crops and increase in agricultural productivity: obtaining a bioformulation that can be used directly in agriculture for the containment of the main phytopathologies.
WP2: Implementation of a production system for the production of new improved foods (innovative and fortifying primary production) and with bioactive compounds isolated from waste products of olive production: Obtaining an innovative and fortifying food product, with bioactive compounds isolated from waste products of oil production.
WP3: Implementation of an innovative control system of the olive oil supply chain: Publicity of the initiative through the media, organization of group meetings in the area for the illustration of the Project, to verify the level of adequacy of the company in relation to development and internationalization policies.
WP4: Fight against genetic erosion through the enhancement of native olive varieties: Carolea and reduction of environmental impact: Enhancement of typical productions of the Calabrian territory, reduction of environmental impact through the enhancement of by-products and processing waste, reduction of production costs, reduction of production waste.
