La gestione della qualità ambientale

The contribution, part of the Manual on the Sanitary Construction (UTET 2005), reports the results of a research conducted for the APAT - Agency for the Protection of the Environment and Territory (2003) on the Initial Environmental Analysis in hospitals as a first step for the EMAS certification. It is s faced, with an innovated approach, the issue of environmental quality in facilities that provide health services and not only and not as for the activities they are doing as for the impact they generate on the territory and for the large amount of material and energy in which they are used and processed, requiring attention both in the realization phase and especially in the management one.
In particular, through a critical reading of the current legislation, also aimed to develop a definition of some procedures of prevention and / or control on the subject, we have identified a series of technologic solutions, technical tools and operational procedures needed to face, in a sustainability perspective, an issue until now solved mainly within the indoor or considered as being outside the hospital sector.
