Evaluation of the performance of Novel Eddy Current Testing Probes

Chapter
Publication Date:
2000
abstract:
The recent introduction ofthe Fluxset sensor as magnetic fielddetector can lead to an improvement of the sensitivity of the measurement systems for nondestructive testing now available. Indeed their high, magnetic field frequency independent sensitivity and their reduced spatial dimensions can increase the possibility of detection of deep and small defects in the materials of interest. Furthermore, the possibility to operate in a wide temperature range (up to 150°C) and the relative simple electronic signal processing are other advantages of the probes based on the Fluxset sensor. Here, we report the esperimental work on the set up of a NDT system based on this new kind of sensor carried out in the NDT laboratory of the University of Reggio Calabria
