Matching fluid influence on field scattered from breast tumour: analysis using 3D realistic numerical phantoms / Angiulli, G., DE CARLO, D., Isernia, T.. - In: ELECTRONICS LETTERS. - ISSN 0013-5194. - 48:1(2012), pp. 13-14. [10.1049/el.2011.2990]
abstract:
In this letter, we report preliminary results aimed to evaluate to which extent the field scattered by a breast tumor is affected by the choice of the matching fluid permittivity $ar{arepsilon}_f$. We have modelled the female breast using highly accurate 3-D numerical phantoms, and studied the forward electromagnetic scattering phenomena via Contrast-Source integral equation. Our analysis reveals as the influence of $ar{arepsilon}_f$ on the scattered field is dependent by the morphological characteristics of the breast under consideration.
