abstract:
Giuseppe Morisano was one of the main writers of antiquities in Calabria during the 18th century. Among his works, he published in 1770 the Inscriptiones Reginae dissertationibus inlustratae, in which he collected all the ancient inscriptions known in Reggio Calabria at that time. He also relied on historical information dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The aim of this paper is to reconstruct the modern history of these inscriptions and their exposition in the city, as prestigious public memories of the ancient history of Reggio Calabria.
