Senatusconsultum de honore Ti. Claudi Idomenei

This work gives the editio princeps of a new senatusconsultum from Copy Thurii, the city of Magna Graecia that had given birth to the ancestors of Augustus, found in 2004 during archaeological excavations. The latin text is transcribed and translated into Italian with critical apparatus and notes. The occasion of conferring of the honor Augustalitatis to the imperial freedman Tiberius Claudius Idomeneo let us to know and to examine in depth, for the first time, the procedures for the election of the Augustali, and also to deepen the knowledge on the imperial interference in the operations of the municipal census and on the taxation. The document also shows some typical foundations of the political ideology of the Roman Empire.
