Territori strategici: Antichi sbarchi e nuove mete di libertà

Chapter
Publication Date:
2019
abstract:
This volume finds its completeness five years after the experience carried out by the Itinerant Seminary Villard in 2014/15. In these years - and especially in the last months and days - the starting conditions that had led us to face the issue of new migrations and the potential effects on reception areas have changed radically. In the two years preceding the studies focused on Pozzallo, Villard had placed his attention towards the urban and non-urban landscapes of the Piave and Montefeltro considered to be exemplary of those strategic territories affected by the First and Second World War wars. Following the group of teachers and researchers Villard decided to complete the original theme with the analysis of the transformations that similar phenomena had produced in the South of Italy and, specifically, on the Sicilian coasts, the eternal place of colonizing or liberating landings. In that historical moment the same coasts crossed by the myth, by the Greeks, by the Arabs or by the allies were invested by new forms of war, emergency and memory, and the small town of Pozzallo considered not only a champion place of contemporary invasions but also a potential virtuous model of welcome.
