La difesa e l'offesa costiera nel Mediterraneo all'epoca della guerra di corsa. Racconti e vedute di città e fortezze del Medio Oriente in una cronaca manoscritta / Scamardi', Giuseppina. - In: QUADERNI DEL DIPARTIMENTO PATRIMONIO ARCHITETTONICO E URBANISTICO. - ISSN 1121-0745. - 37-40:(2010), pp. 45-64.
abstract:
A traveling chronacle written in the early XVIIth century provides much information about the form of urban systems and fortifications situated along the Mediterranean coasts. The stories, regarding the coasts of the Middle East (Syria, Lebanon, Israel), are particularly interesting; these are further enriched by previously unknown perpectives of the places that the chronicler believes the most significant: the fortified cities of Tortosa and Tripoli, the ruins of the crusader castle of Athlit and the ancient city of Tyre, in which, at the time, it was possible to see the medieval ruins. These drawings are definitely more original then other best known and those views are a useful historic landmark for the definition of territorial sites and the valuation of their transformation.
