Un Museo per la scuola dell’Italia unita

The paper analyses some meaningful aspects of the work done by the “Museo d'Istruzione e di Educazione” in the process of modernization of the Italian educational system after Unification, so in the process of construction of the national identity. In the opinion of the author, the Museum – as “laboratory”, “place of research and elaboration”, as scientific institute of support for the Ministry of Public Education – had an important role in the construction of the “nuova Italia” and, specifically, in the pedagogic and cultural activities to “fare gli italiani”.
