Giuseppe Dalla Vedova: un geografo alla direzione del Museo d’Istruzione e di Educazione

Founded by Ruggiero Bonghi (1874), the Museum of Instruction and Education has been directed at first by geographer Giuseppe Dalla Vedova (1875-1877) and then by philosopher and pedagogist Antonio Labriola (1877-1891). This paper is a part a research project in progress and focuses its attention on the museum’s direction of Giuseppe Dalla Vedova. Particularly, the author of the essay examines: a) Dalla Vedova’s contribution to the diffusion and modernization of the geographical teaching into the Italian schools; b) the relationship between the nomination of Dalla Vedova to the direction of the museum and his transfer from University of Padova to University of Rome.
