Matmata. Rilievi di case ipogee

Matmata subterranean dwellings, in Tunisia, are houses vertically excavated. They are arrangedbelow the horizontal ground line in a territory shaped by alternating hills. Places identity is studiedthrough architecture representation in the way which drawing , reconstructs the historicalprocess of memory as documentation of a degraded palimpsest. In this sense, architecture drawing,becomes an instrument able to identify social identities models useful to define the complicated“balance between spaces of the past and present needs”. The study is conducted fromthe survey of many houses located in the ancient city of Matmata.
