FrammentAzione. Il Patrimonio Spaziale come Elemento Fondativo / D'Amico, G., Amaro, O., Tornatora, M.. - (2026), pp. 102-103. [10.82048/202606]
abstract:
The expansion of the ecumene beyond the Earth's atmosphere has produced a stratification of artifacts that today constitute an unprecedented extraterrestrial archaeology. The paper investigates the role of the fragment as an architectural generator even beyond terrestrial boundaries. If historically, geographical invariants and pre-existing archaeological remains have been the foundational matrices of urban space, space colonization today imposes a paradigm shift in the concept of locus. The hypothesis is to consider Space Heritage – anthropic traces beyond Earth – not as inert relics, but as devices of a new industrial archaeology. This "active fragment" serves as a foundational instance, establishing a link of continuity between technological memory and the planning of the future. The fragment thus becomes a foundational element, demonstrating how the trace – human or natural – remains the essential condition for habitation, both on Earth and in deep space.
