Short description:
BIM-based protocols for smart and safe building management / Azzalin, M.; Metastasio, C.; Saturno, F.. - (2024), pp. 431-444.
abstract:
Behaviors, spaces, daily working, personal and relational life, suddenly required compliance with some new and urgent requirements for safety, well-being and livability imposed by the pandemic emergency. Needs, but also opportunities, that prompt thinking about the post-emergency vision, experimenting with new models of living and new processes of transformation of the built environment. In particular, while using a well-known disciplinary expression, the "existing project" (Di Battista, 1992, 2006) is one of the main issues of the European strategies and of Agenda 2030 policies. It represents an interdisciplinary and interscale approach through which fighting both the challenges of the pandemic emergency, that has brought "home" at the center of personal and working life and the ecological and digital demands of ongoing change. (EU,2020a; EU,2020b; EU,2021a) From this scenario, the contribution presents the experimental research activities started during the emergency phase - and their current upgrade - related to the definition of BIMBased Protocols for smart and safe management of buildings. They deal with methodological solutions based on integrated digital twin approaches, openBIM models, and IoT systems, for monitoring and analysis of indoor environmental data, uploaded within a cloud platform, the Maintenance Management Model, MMM. The research is part of the R&D actions led at BIG s.r.l., to which the authors belong, dealing with the proposal of innovative governance of real estate assets through the development of a networked ICT infrastructure, the MMM.
