The crisis of the character/mask and the recomposition of the unmasking/persona: the jair and the “laughter decomposed” · This essay attempts to examine the executive itinerary of death-resurrection of the “handcrafted” jar/man-mask within the context of Pirandello’s complex poetics. The study brings into play the key elements of the narrative genome (character/persona) at work in the detailed reconstruction of the dialogical itineraries of the novella and of the intense poetic reflections leading to the bitter laughter that the Author, in his highly creative synthesis, continuously composes and decomposes, just like the fragments of “his” jar.
