abstract:
The section describes the innovative scenarios resulting from the connection between industrial requirements and research, with reference in particular to processes involving a re-thinking of matter. Often, this relationship leads to the development of innovative materials that, on the one hand, is expressed by experimenting with highly complex technological materials while, on the other, it tends to recover building traditions and traditional materials so as to meet the demand for a renewal in an economic model that has been unsustainable for a long time as regards the production. This approach requires an on-going in-depth study of technical and scientific concepts and is increasingly evident in the development settings for different categories of matter, where the availability of materials and natural resources becomes a focal point on which to concentrate the objectives of scientific and industrial research, as well as production.
