Il patrimonio architettonico nelle strategie di rilancio dei territori fragili. Prospettive di riscatto e impossibili ritorni in Calabria

A new interest for inner areas and the richness of their resources has recently been emerging among economists and politicians. In this perspective, these territories are seen as places where economic and social rebirth is possible, based on the enhancement and improvement of local resources, intended as common goods. Among these goods, architectural heritage is included, but, unfortunately, and de- spite what is happening in other fields, such as agriculture, manufacturing, food, and so on, strategies and policies for its valorisation are still not following these new tendencies. The essay reflects on the significant change of mentality which a new place-based approach for conservation and valorisation of architectural heritage in inner and depopulated areas would require, with particular reference to the case of the Calabria region.
