abstract:
The Sicily, for its inhabitants, it is something more than cities, houses, streets and landscapes. It is, to put it with Sciascia, a metaphor. In these notes I try to reconstruct the sicilian
collective imaginary through the words of authors as Verga, Pirandello, Sciascia, Vittorini. I selected fourteen novels written in the last 150 years, from the Unification of Italy.
In these works, the description of the Sicilian landscape is fragmented and, in my opinion, for this more pervasive.
The objective of this research is to reconstruct, through the words, the archetypal elements of the Sicilian landscape.
