Turismo e qualità paesaggistica, un binomio inscindibile per nuovi scenari di sviluppo sostenibile in Calabria

This paper proposes an integrated research on two topical issues concerning sustainability and development: Tourism and Landscape. Their significance is highlighted by the high number of documents and rules which have been produced and founded on the awareness that a correct economic and social development of the territories should be combined with the protection and enhancement of landscape, considered as a key element to individual and social well-being.
Being the centre of any development process, the territory is assailed by new demands for quality, efficiency and identity that need “to integrate landscape into its regional and town planning policies and in its cultural, environmental, agricultural, social and economic policies”.
In this context, considering that the public has the right “to enjoy high quality landscapes and to play an active part in the development of landscapes”, the paper proposes new prospects of sustainability for the future of tourism in Calabria.
