The image of Siena is associated with the Middle Age, the golden age of the city, which the well-preserved urban plan and its symbolic architectures have continued to perpetuate over the centuries, in spite of important interventions have been grafted, which have enriched its architectural and urban programming over time. Among these some promoted by Alexander VII Chigi (1655-1667), realized but, also, never realized, that left a significant but discreet imprint on the urban stratification: a moderate echo of the known papal projects in Rome.
