Many areas of the Calabrian territory suffered and actually suffer a slow and inexorable degradation resulting in the disposal of industrial plants and / or the abandonment of productive activities.
Within a project that examines the critical landscapes in order to their conversion also in social terms, the article focuses on the topic of degradation / disposal for a subsequent recovery.
Starting from an analysis of some significant case studies – Bagnoli near Naples; Falk Steelworks in Milan; Area Italgas in Turin - some design strategies are proposed, based mainly on the analysis of the biophysical and microclimate characteristics of the context, that appropriately considered in a project of landscape recovery allow the achievement of a quality not only formal and durable.
