Overview

Date/time interval

Primo Ciclo Semestrale (22/09/2025 - 12/12/2025)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

The objective of the course is to provide students with the knowledge and methodological tools necessary to interpret the phenomena underlying chemical transformations, with particular emphasis on the study of aqueous solutions and the chemical equilibria that occur within them. These tools, supplemented by numerical exercises and laboratory work, will enable students to understand the implications of structure and properties and acquire basic knowledge about the structure of matter in its various states of aggregation, particularly focusing on the study of the electronic configuration of atoms and molecules and chemical dynamics (including chemical reactions, especially in their stoichiometric, thermodynamic, and kinetic aspects). Students will need to be able to correlate structure with chemical reactivity and perform the stoichiometric calculations that underpin chemical measurements. The knowledge acquired will be both theoretical and practical.

Course Prerequisites

No prerequisites

Teaching Methods

Lectures. The course also includes classroom exercises, during which practical exercises related to the topics covered will be carried out.

Assessment Methods

The final exam consists of a written test and an oral exam, which can be taken upon passing the written test. The written test involves solving 5 stoichiometry exercises. The passing threshold for the written test is the completion of 3 out of 5 exercises. Passing the written test grants the right to take the oral exam during the same examination session.
