Course Objectives

In today's society, subject to continuous evolution and change, socio-economic theory must equip itself with the methodological analysis tools needed to collect, select, and process the data produced in the economic system. After an introduction to methodological statistics, the course aims to explore probability theory in depth, outlining its fundamental principles, particularly with a view to analyzing modern decision theory.

At the end of this course, students will be able to understand and use the main statistical tools necessary for the analysis of phenomena in various fields (social, economic, etc.) and in their various manifestations. Students will be able to organize the observed data of one or more phenomena of interest in a frequency or contingency table, summarize their main characteristics and relationships through appropriate univariate or bivariate indices, and deduce more general results about the population from the observed sample of data.
