Syllabus

Course Objectives

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

The aim of the course is to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of the fundamental concepts of Chemistry in order to propose the following goals to future students:

- observe, ask questions and discuss probable hypotheses;

- propose investigation paths;

- logically connect phenomena studied;

- justify and defend choices;

- appropriate the meaning of words and terms;

- acquire direct experience of the phenomena studied both in daily life and in the laboratory;

- know how to use "e-books" and "learning objects"

Course Prerequisites

PREREQUISITES

Knowledge of mathematics required for enrollment in the Degree Program and verified through the entry test.

Teaching Methods

TEACHING ORGANIZATION

Teaching takes place in the first semester of the fourth year and consists of lectures and classroom exercises.

Assessment Methods

EVALUATION OF LEARNING

The final exam consists of a test with multiple choice and open-ended questions. The written test lasts 2 hours.

The final evaluation, appropriately graded, will be formulated on the basis of the following conditions:

a) Sufficient knowledge of the topics and theories covered in the teaching and sufficient ability to present;

Sufficient level of awareness and autonomy in the application of theories to explain chemical phenomena (grade 18-21);

b) Fair knowledge of the topics and theories covered in the teaching and fair ability to present;

Fair level of awareness and autonomy in the application of theories to explain chemical phenomena (grade 22-25);

c) Good knowledge of the topics and theories covered in the teaching and good ability to present;

Good level of awareness and autonomy in the application of theories to explain chemical phenomena (grade 26-28);

d) Excellent knowledge of the topics and theories covered in the teaching and excellent presentation skills;

Excellent level of awareness and autonomy in the application of theories for the explanation of chemical phenomena (grade 29-30L).

More information

EXPECTED LEARNING RESULTS

Knowledge and understanding:

Know the fundamental concepts of Chemistry to be used as an interpretative key in the teaching of physical and natural sciences.

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding:

Ability to apply chemical concepts, techniques and methodologies to describe the behavior of real systems. The future teacher will have to act as director and coordinator by soliciting as much as possible questions and a desire to know about topics concerning the subject and its transformations.

Autonomy of judgment:

Being able to evaluate simple chemical problems to propose to future students critical and effective paths for the understanding of simple phenomena related to matter and its transformations.

Communication skills:

Knowing how to argue in rigorous terms on the concepts acquired in written and oral form in order to transmit these skills to future students.

Learning ability:

Knowing how to interpret and rework new knowledge of a higher level than the fundamental concepts acquired during the course
