Experimental study of the transient flow with cavitation in a copper pipe system

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2017
Short description:
Experimental study of the transient flow with cavitation in a copper pipe system / Puntorieri, P., Barbaro, G., Fiamma, V.. - In: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY. - ISSN 0976-6316. - Volume 8, Issue 9, September 2017:9(2017), pp. 1035-1041.
abstract:
Water hammer is generated when a change of the flow occurs, causing fluid particles to rapidly accelerate and to decelerate. The paper presents the results of measurements carried out in an experimental laboratory pipe-rig confirming that the classic water hammer theory does not apply in the presence of cavitating flow. The research also shows the steady and dynamic behavior of the system due to the valve closure.
