The essay briefly traces the entire historical-juridical path of the Waldensian Movement and its church, starting from its founder and investigating the forms and roles that have characterized the magisterium. Particular attention has been paid to the figure of the Waldensian wom- an as she has been recognized as an undoubted novelty after a careful, rig- orous and conscious fideistic matura- tion. A brief mention of the theme of religious freedom will be made in the conclusions.
