The Byzantine Cultural Landscape of the Inner Mediterranean Areas: A Cultural Route Project

The paper illustrates the methodological path followed by the research group that is taking care of the project of a Cultural Route aimed at valorising the Byzantine Cultural Landscape of the Inner Areas of the Mediterranean, a Cultural Route also to be nominated for certification by the Council of Europe. The paper is divided into two parts: the first, of a theoretical nature, after recalling the principles underlying the Cultural Routes Program of the Council of Europe, illustrates the meta-project of the Route, the type of subjects involved and the different project phases. The second part illustrates the case study: the historical period of reference, the territories involved, the types of heritage taken into consideration, the cognitive activities already conducted and the subjects who currently constitute the project partnership.
